The Ins and Outs of 2024

Ins and Outs lists are not overdone. Are the ones that have very unspecific things overdone? Yeah, a bit. That, or they just need a little more elaboration.

Either way, this is my Ins and Outs list for 2024, a little late as always.

In:

Intuitive exercise

Moving your body for enjoyment is the purpose of working out. If it isn't bringing you joy along with health benefits, it isn't worth it! This can look like anything from a routine to just whatever I am craving in the moment- and that's okay!

Fun little drinks

Whether it is a latte homemade or from a cafe, a functional beverage mocktail or a cocktail when the time calls for it, I will always be treating myself to a fun little drink.

Owning your style

Who cares what is trendy together and what isn't? We used to get dressed as kids in our favorite colors and patterns, let's bring that back!

Early bedtimes

I am a chronic night owl, but early to bed means a good morning and a chance at seeing the sunrise and the world a little bit calmer.

Feminine clothing

Less straight lines and boxy frames, more pouf and fun colors!

Taking walks to explore

When is the last time you went for a walk through a downtown or shopping center with no destination in mind? This is one of the ways I become inspired to discover and learn new things.

Calling your friends

It is more effective and better than a text. Call to check in!

Dream-based motivation

I am practicing this by making vegan pastries, writing and painting again. Will I ever own a bakery, be a world renown author or be featured in the Met? Probably not, but that doesn't mean I can't take joy from my dreams now.

Mixed materials/metals

I have recently been gifted a lot fo silver jewelry, and so I am giving up being a solely gold girlie (although I do prefer it). Same goes for patterns, who says we have to wear only one type of metal or only two patterns in an outfit!

Solo dates

Just because you're not with another person doesn't mean you can't enjoy your own company. Take yourself out for a treat, a walk or a meal!

Out:

Alcohol based perfume

It hurts my sinuses. Also, oil based lasts longer and is so much better for your skin. End of story.

Elitist books

As long as I am reading, I'm reading. I personally don't care whether it is Virginia Woolf or Emily Henry, "A Tale of Two Cities" or "It Happened One Summer", and neither should anyone else.

“That girl”

In 2024 I am trying to get out of comparison, even as inspiration. You should be "that person" that you want to be, or have an idea that is you, no one else.

The uniform outfit

My closet is too much fun to be wearing iterations of the same thing every day. Mis it up! Your wardrobe is not supposed to be cohesive, it is supposed to be fun!

Cereal as a breakfast food

It is a snack only and I stand by that. Something more complete is so much better for breakfast.

Nightly Netflix binges

I have been trying to get into the habit of putting on something educational or an intentional movie night instead of a spiral of never ending episodes. However, I still love "Grey's Anatomy" so that is up in the air.

Basic layers

This is the death of the black and white snowgear. It is hard to see on ski slopes, and your winter closet deserves to be as fun as your summer one!

Quick showers

I believe that time should be set aside for a shower routine that makes you look and feel good, whether you're starting or ending your day with it. Eucalyptus and rosemary oil are a must!

Storage space maximums

I have recently been personally victimized by my phone's storage capacity. I am coping by using SwipeWipe.

“The perfect” Insta post

I have been trying to use Instagram less as a place to look perfect and more as a blog to catch up with my friends and events in my city. Not everything needs to be perfectly posed, and that is okay!
